Hi, I’m Brigitta Stone-Johnson (Brigs). I am an artist, architect, and researcher who lives in Johannesburg, South Africa. I have been a lecturer at the Wits School of Architecture (SoAP) since 2016. My work considers the post-mining city as a material ecology through its material markers: earth, air, water, and geology.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
I create art and write about a living material as it represents a more-than-human world and serves as a bridge connecting humans to the deep past and the deep future. I am concerned with the impacts of climate change on cities as living, more-than-human ecosystems. Alongside the human geological relationships that take place in cities at all scales. My work is grounded in artistic practices as tools for counter-narrating extraction, colonialism, and the impacts of the Anthropocene. <\/h6>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
